Botox® is actually a trade name for the neurotoxic protein called botulinum toxin. It works by relaxing the contraction of muscles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses, which results in softened and relaxed wrinkles. Botox® can be used to act as a much less invasive face- lift, treating crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and thick bands in the neck. Botox® has also been utilized to treat excessive sweating, migraine headaches, and involuntary muscles spasms.
A Botox® injection is a very simple, non-surgical procedure that usually takes 10-30 minutes, depending on the amount of Botox® injected and the number of desired areas to be treated.
